The Onyx and Breezy Foundation of which Corey Ribotsky is a member of the Board of Trustees, is more than just an association working towards protecting and safeguarding the quality of live of dogs. This organization was originally set up to: “provide financial support to credible organizations and individuals that benefit the welfare of animals.” But it goes even further than that. Maybe because the founders want to focus on the positive – as they remember positive times from their dogs – the Onyx and Breezy Foundation also seeks to put on enjoyable events for its benefactors.

Corey Ribotsky on Enjoyable Events at the Foundation

It’s always nice to be treated well as a supporter of an organization. It’s great when you feel like it is a two-way thing. At the Onyx and Breezy Foundation, these events seek to do just that. Board member Corey Ribotsky might be interested in the organization’s recent and upcoming events. These include the first annual island gala (during March of this year) held at a jazz club and restaurant in Florida, the wine tasting and auction on Broadway, New York (in April) and the 6th annual black tie gala in New Jersey (due to be held in October). While the organization was set up in memory of dogs who passed on (signifying a sad time), these events are also there to remind supporters of all the fun times had during the lives they shared with “man’s best friend.”

Stern Graduate School of Business. Getting a good education from a high ranking university, can only help when it comes to gaining respect in one’s chosen career field. This was definitely the case for Corey Ribotsky.
Corey Ribotsky and Stern Business School Alumni
Being an alumni from the Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of Business will probably stand you in good stead for the future. The statistics speak for themselves. Today, there are nearly 80,000 graduates working in over a hundred countries around the world. Indeed it has said that “Stern alumni are among the best and brightest minds in the business community.” Well, if Corey Ribotsky’s business success is anything to go by, then this statement is probably true.

Corey Ribotsky was once a student at State University of New York at Stony Brook. He graduated from there with a BA and then went on to earn his MBA. As well, he attended Law School. So it would be fair to say that Ribotsky has quite a strong academic background.
Today, all the educational institutions at which Corey Ribotsky studied, maintain their reputation for academic excellence. (He also was a student at the Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of and Brooklyn Law School). What is interesting to note however, is that the State University of New York at Stony Brook is up there along with only 93 other educational institutions in America which have been termed a “Very High Research University” by the Carnegie Foundation. This isn’t surprising since the faculty can boast over 1,400 inventions and 400 patents.

March 24th was national Kick Butts Day, where students around the country learned about the harmful effects of cigarette smoking the “kicked butt” against cigarettes. The North Shore-LIJ Health System, where Corey Ribotsky is a Board of Trustee member, participated as well. Their Center for Tobacco Control (CTC) welcomed students at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Lindenhurst to transform the gym into a health classroom.

They had informative booths, educational games, all sorts of anti-tobacco messages from their poster contest, giveaways and more. Over 2000 groups participated in the Kick Butts Day nationwide.

According to the CDC, over three million adolescents smoke cigarettes and every single day 3500 teenagers will try their first cigarette.

They started a massive email with flyers to begin their bed drive for DAS. Within four days, 100 dog beds had been donated to the shelter. Contributions came from Dr. Marty Becker of Good Morning America, The Onyx And Breezy Foundation where Corey Ribotsky is a member of the Board of Trustees, and other locations.

For more than 21 years now, TNT has been offering a win-win situation. Participants enjoy an endurance training program and receive coaching to get in shape and enjoy being fit; while their efforts help to raise funds for a worthy cause. More than 420,000 people have participated so far in everything from hiking adventures and 100 mile bike rides to marathons and half marathons.

This is one more example of the commitment, excellence and creativity that LLS shows in their fundraising efforts. Certainly, the support that they get from people like Corey Ribotsky and so many others makes a difference and an impact.

In a move of solidarity, John Walter, the President and CEO of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, recently shaved off all of his blond hair. He did so as part of the Totally Baldacious campaign to raise money for cancer research and patient support. So far, from this program alone, LLS has raised $30,000 and hopes to hit the $50,000 mark.

As Walter said, “By shaving my head I am sending a message on behalf of LLS and all of our supporters, to let people with cancer know they are not alone.”

All proceeds from the Totally Baldacious campaign will support LLS’s blood cancer research funding and patient services initiatives. This is one example of the many creative fundraising efforts that LLS uses, and the support that they appreciate from individuals like Corey Ribotsky and so many others.
